Two American metropolises are brought to vibrant, sophisticated life by a much-loved giant of literary fiction.

When speaking about his latest collection, internationally best-selling author Amor Towles said, ‘…in most of the pieces, a critical moment involved a pair of family members or strangers facing each other across a kitchen table […] it must have sprung from a conviction in my subconscious that our lives can often change materially due to a single conversation at a table for two.’

Hot off the presses, Table for Two is a collection in two halves, featuring six never-before-seen short stories and one novella all exploring the long-reaching consequences of the smallest encounters and decisions. Set in New York at the turn of the millennium and Hollywood in its heyday, both halves are set to transport readers to big city America where the lives of the famous and the unknown alike play out in Towles’ signature stylish prose.

Amor Towles is the author of New York Times bestsellers Rules of Civility, A Gentleman in Moscow, and The Lincoln Highway. The three novels have collectively sold more than five million copies and have been translated into more than thirty-five languages.

This event will be chaired by Roland Gulliver, Director of the Toronto International Festival of Authors (TIFA) and former Associate Director of Edinburgh International Book Festival.
