Join us for a special screening of Orson Welles’ 1962 adaptation of Kafka’s celebrated novel, The Trial.
To mark the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka’s death, ILFD will host a special free screening of Orson Welles’ 1962 adaptation of Kafka’s celebrated novel, The Trial. Written, directed, and edited by Welles, the film stars some of the great names of the 1960s, including Anthony Perkins, Jeanne Moreau, Romy Schneider and Michel Lonsdale.
The story follows Josef K as he struggles to make sense of a judicial and bureaucratic system from which there seems to be no escape. Welles draws on nightmarish architecture and German expressionism to explore themes around loss of identity, guilt and societal corruption.
The film will be shown in its original language (English) and lasts 1h58m.
This special screening will be introduced by freelance film critic and host of The Indie Film Club, Anthony O’Keeffe.
Presented in partnership with The Indie Film Club.
