GCN Town Hall Talk: At Swim, Two Boys

Saturday, 19 May
Belvedere House
€8 / €5

Praised as “a work of wild, vaulting ambition and achievement”, Jamie O’Neill’s first novel At Swim, Two Boys, first published in 2001, invited comparison to such literary greats as James Joyce, Samuel Beckett and Charles Dickens.

Powerful and artful, and ten years in the writing, At Swim, Two Boys is a tender, tragic love story and a brilliant depiction of people caught in the tide of history. The book’s enduring popularity led to a reissue in 2017, with a foreword by John Boyne.

We are delighted to welcome O’Neill to the festival to discuss the book and its impact, as well as his earlier novels, Kilbrack and Disturbance. He will be joined in conversation by novelist and GCN Editor Brian Finnegan.
