According to JM Le Clezio, the 2008 Nobel Laureate for Literature, Lee Seung-U is Korea’s leading candidate for the Nobel Prize. Since his first novel, inspired by the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II, Lee has published five short story collections and nine award-winning novels, including The Reverse Side of Life (a finalist for the Prix Femina) and Magnolia Park. His latest novel to be translated into English is The Private Lives of Plants, a strange, enchanting story of love in all its unexpected forms. Join Lee for this talk about his work and the subjects that inspire him.
