Le Guin has long been considered one of science fiction’s great ancestors, a part of the previous century’s rebellions and upheavals, from women’s liberation and the Civil Rights movement to American anti-war and environmental activism. Discover Space Crone, a new curation of Le Guin’s writings on feminism and gender, brought together for the first time by editors So Mayer and Sarah Shin.

This collection does not crown Le Guin the queen of the forest, but rather acknowledges her work as a forest in its own right, providing an ecosystem in which generations of writers can gather under the generous eaves of Le Guin’s capacious imagination.

Mayer will be in discussion with fellow speculative fiction writers Clara Kumagai and James Hudson.

So Mayer is a writer and organiser. Their most recent book is the essay A Nazi Word for a Nazi Thing (Peninsula, 2020). Truth or Dare, a collection of speculative fiction, will be published by Cipher Press in summer 2023.

Clara Kumagai is from Canada, Japan and Ireland. Her debut YA novel, Catfish Rolling, will be published by Zephyr in March 2023.
