Don’t miss this day-long seminar covering all the ins and outs of publishing including what’s hot, what’s not, and how to get your big break. Whether you are ready to submit, in the middle of your book, or only starting, The Insider’s Guide to Publishing will give you invaluable tips and advice to improve your chances of success.
At this 10th edition of The Insider’s Guide to Publishing, we’ll be joined by six top literary agents, two leading Irish editors, two debut authors, and the mastermind behind Writing.ie – Europe’s biggest writing resource website – for a crash course in everything you need to know to get your door in the door of the literary world.
This seminar will run from 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM; our four panel discussions will be:
09:15 – 10:00 – Arrival / Check In (Coffee/Tea available)
10:00 – 11:30 – The Agent Game
Six top literary agents will discuss what’s hot and what’s not in the genres they represent, what they love and loathe to see in a submission, and how to avoid the dreaded rejection. This year, we’ll be joined by Polly Nolan from PaperCuts Ltd. (Children & YA); Simon Trewin from Simon Trewin Creative (Literary Fiction / Book Club); Nicky Lovick from WGM Atlantic (Women’s Fiction); Madeleine Cotter from WGM Atlantic (Film & TV); Sara O’Keeffe from Aevitas Creative Management (Crime / Thriller); and Max Edwards from Aevitas Creative Management (Speculative Fiction / Science Fiction).

13:45 – 15:15 – Inside Editing (session 3)
In this session, Patricia Deevy from Penguin and Sarah Liddy from Gill Books will discuss what they’re looking for in a submission, what exactly makes a ‘break-out novel’, and what you absolutely should not do when submitting your book. Sarah Liddy specialises in non-fiction, so this event isn’t just for fiction writers!
