Ian Maleney’s essay film Minor Monuments, based on his recent book, is a graceful depiction of the landscape and people of County Offaly, where he grew up. It shares with Tim Robinson’s writing a deep engagement with the landscapes and traditions of rural Ireland, and the ways in which modernity has encroached upon them. Through the lens of his own family’s history, and the imposing figure of his grandfather Jonjo who is suffering from Alzheimer’s, it is also an intensely personal story. In conversation with filmmaker, editor and sound recordist Tadgh O'Sullivan.
This is a very special opportunity to watch Minor Monuments, and then to join Ian for a live q&a about the film.
A Holy Show production with Ian Maleney.
Presented by the International Literature Festival Dublin, a Dublin City Council initiative, with kind support by Galway 2020 and IPB.
