Brazilian author Ana Maria Machado was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2000, the most significant international prize for children’s literature. Her History Mystery has been translated by Little Island and traces the mysterious journey of a group of school friends as they follow clues from their modern day school through to ancient Egypt, a medieval wizard’s lab and back to the ships that sailed for the New World.
