For centuries, Irish leaders, artists and thinkers have looked to mainland Europe for inspiration and support. Ireland’s presidency of the EU, the European Year of Citizens and this year’s 40th anniversary of Ireland’s EU membership offer a perfect opportunity to re ect on Ireland’s relationship with Europe, a topic which never fails to inspire strong reactions.
To mark this special year a panel of personalities from the worlds of Irish politics and the arts will offer an insight into the diverse European gures, past and present, that have inspired them and in uenced their thinking.
Join guest speakers including Independent Member of Seanad Éireann and Irish child rights activist Senator Jillian van Turnhout, novelist and short story writer Evelyn Conlon and Julia Carruthers (Director of Dublin Dance Festival) as they reveal their choices.
