In a book that looks to the sky, Richard Dawkins takes us on a flight of fancy. As part of the 25th Anniversary edition of International Literature Festival Dublin, one of the world’s most eminent scientists and thinkers Richard Dawkins will visit Dublin for a special event on 21 May.
An examination of nature, of ideas, and of dreams, his latest book Flights of Fancy, takes us from the mythological tragedy of Icarus, to the extinct glory of the Argentavis magnificens, to the modern-day pilots who ferry us around the world.
Often controversial, as a speaker Dawkins is endlessly engaging and ILFDublin is thrilled to present this event on the festival stage in Merrion Square this month. Featuring beautiful illustrations, Flights of Fancy will appeal to a wide age range – from teenage scientists to seasoned travellers – and is guaranteed to make the soul soar.
After two years of online events, ILFDublin is delighted to once again welcome authors from around the world to gather in-person in Dublin city for this 11 day celebration of writing and literature. This year the festival has a new home, a Literary Village which will, for the 11 days, be set up in Merrion Square Park, a beautiful space in the heart of the city and surrounded by a rich and unique literary history.
