Schitt’s Creek screenwriter Monica Heisey discusses her debut novel Really Good, Actually, a painfully relatable romp through the peaks and pitfalls of modern life.
‘Heisey is exploring loneliness in an internet age, the vulnerability of being uncoupled in a culture that prizes relationships, and the fear and helplessness of separation.’

Schitt’s Creek screenwriter Monica Heisey discusses her debut novel Really Good, Actually, a painfully relatable romp through the peaks and pitfalls of modern love, friendship, and happiness. With her comic chops on full display, Heisey dives headlong into the heartache and hope of life after divorce with her trademark deadpan humour and witticism.
When protagonist Maggie’s marriage falters less than two years in, she finds herself penniless and alone for the first time in her life. Though her friends are supportive to a fault, Maggie finds her brave new world of dating-apps, TikTok, and late night burger delivery, as lonely as it is liberating.
Monica will be in conversation with Sophie White.
