We welcome ‘Best of the Booker’ winner Salman Rushdie back to ILFDublin to discuss his new non-fiction collection, Languages of Truth.
“Language is courage: the ability to conceive a thought, to speak it, and by doing so to make it true.” Salman Rushdie, The Satanic Verses
We’re delighted to welcome ‘Best of the Booker’ winner Salman Rushdie back to ILFDublin to discuss his new collection, Languages of Truth. A compilation of non-fiction essays, criticism and speeches written between 2003 and 2020, including several never previously in print, Languages of Truth chronicles a period of momentous cultural shifts. Written with wit and energy, Rushdie’s subjects range from literature and art, to politics and human rights, with essay topics including Cervantes, Shakespeare, Ai Weiwei, Osama Bin Laden, truth, courage, liberty, Carrie Fisher and Christmas.
Salman Rushdie is the author of fourteen novels – including Midnight’s Children, for which he won the Man Booker Prize and the Best of the Booker – and one collection of short stories. He has also published four works of non-fiction and co-edited two anthologies. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and a Distinguished Writer in Residence at New York University.
Salman Rushdie will be in conversation with Edel Coffey, whose hotly-anticipated debut Breaking Point is published in 2022.
