Maeve O’Sullivan, who will be leading the Haiku workshops, has published her poems and haiku widely, and is a former poetry winner at Listowel Writer’s Week. Her first haiku collection, Initial Response, was launched in 2011 by Alba Publishing, and is now available as an e-book. Maeve is a member of Haiku Ireland and the British Haiku Society, and has been conducting haiku workshops with adults and children for twelve years.
Maeve will introduce the haiku form, then children will be invited to take a ‘ginko’ or composition stroll in the gardens. From this inspiration, they will then write their own Haiku. While there, make sure to visit the exhibition of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter (Taketori monogatari), the oldest Japanese work of fiction in prose.
These workshops are suitable for children between the ages of 8 – 12. Duration 1hr 30min.
