In The Rule of the Land: Walking Ireland’s Border mapmaker and writer Garrett Carr travelled the border’s invisible lines on foot and by canoe. Joining him is Pat McCabe, award-winning author of The Butcher Boy and Breakfast On Pluto, and Monaghan native whose affectionately termed ‘Bog Gothic’ transformed the depiction of the small Irish town. With Ireland’s three hundred mile border with the UK set to become the frontier with the European Union, they explore a political faultline with a unique past and an uncertain future.
The event is chaired by writer and journalist Martina Devlin.
' Garrett Carr powerfully captures the often desolate beauty of the border landscape in language that is both robust, yet lyrical.' David Park
