17 – 26 May

International Literature Festival Dublin, in association with The King’s Hospital School, present a special in-school event for young adult readers on World Book Day 7th March, YA-Z CON.

Among those involved will be authors David Almond, Meg Grehan, Dave Rudden, Sarah Maria Griffin, Peadar Ó Guilín, Sarah Webb and Colm Keegan.

Throughout the year, outside of the festival dates, International Literature Festival Dublin runs once off events for adults with various visiting authors.

Today ILFDublin announced details of a special event that they will present on World Book Day in association with The King’s Hospital.  The event, which will take place on 7th March and which the young people have been very involved in shaping, will give teenagers across a number of years in King's Hospital and other invited schools the chance to meet authors, as well as discuss and debate topics including inspiration and mental health.

This celebration of books and writing will include a visit by award winning English author David Almond, a presentation by Elaina Ryan (Children’s Books Ireland) on the We Are the Poets project, a panel with Meg Grehan and Dave Rudden talking about creativity and mental health and a second panel with Sarah Maria Griffin, Peadar Ó Guilín and Sarah Webb to discuss ideas and inspiration. The young people will also share their own writings with the audience in a session hosted by Colm Keegan.

“ILDFDublin are delighted to be working with King's Hospital on this unique event which will bring together young adult readers from all over Dublin with some of the best writers around. We are particularly thrilled that David Almond can join us as he's such an important voice in YA fiction.” Sarah Webb, Family and Schools Programmer, ILFDublin said. Although this event is specific to the schools involved on 7th March, the upcoming ILFDublin festival will include a wealth of events open to all young readers.

The full programme will be announced in early April but today ILFDublin confirmed that it will include an exciting Teen Curators’ Event with author John Boyne, discussing his new book, My Brother's Name is Jessica. Full details to be announced but mark the festival dates of 17th – 26th May in your diary now and keep updated at www.ilfdublin.com
