The Insiders’ Guide to Getting Published

Our one-day conference brings you the inside track on how publishing works and what you need to do to make your submission a success. Hear from our expert panels of five top agents, three of London’s literary editors, and two best-selling authors!

AGENTS. Lucy Luck, who is looking for literary and literary cross-over novels, non- fiction ‘and for anything that stops me in my tracks’; Ivan Mulcahy, whose authors include David Mitchell and Lisa McInerney; Julia Churchill, who is on the lookout for storytelling magic, from picture book texts to YA; Piers Blofeld of Sheil Land Associates, who represents commercial and literary fiction and non- fiction; and Tanera Simons, currently building the women’s fiction list at Darley Anderson Literary Agency.

EDITORS. Crime and thriller editor Joel Richardson, recipient of the Bookseller Rising Star award, 2016; Bookouture’s Kathryn Taussig who loves thrillers and ‘will drop everything for a truly excellent romantic comedy’; and Sara O’Keeffe, Editorial Director of Corvus, who has worked with Michael Connelly, Ian Rankin, and Minette Walters among many others.

AUTHORSCarmel Harrington and Shane Dunphy will discuss how to create opportunities. Carmel Harrington has published six novels, twice been shortlisted for a BGE Irish Book Award, and won Kindle Book of the Year 2013 and Romantic eBook of the Year 2013. Writer and musician Shane Dunphy is the million-selling author of ten books. The movie of his memoir The Boy They Tried to Hide is in development. His crime novels written as S.A. Dunphy have also garnered much acclaim.
