This year, running in conjunction with Date With An Agent, The International Literature Festival Dublin is running a full one day conference focusing on Getting Published. Bringing in experts from the world of publishing we will demystify the process and explain what makes a successful submission.

Commence for 75 selected authors who have previously submitted their work for the Date with an Agent pitching sessions. This will run parralel with the Getting Published conference and is not open to the public.
12.00 - 13.00: Getting Published: Successful Submissions
Vanessa Fox O'Loughlin explains your crucial submission package, what to include and what to leave out and how to best get noticed. Explaining the Irish and international publishing market she will also cover how a publishing deal works including contacts, advances and royalties, what is expected of the author and what to expect from the publisher. Do you need an agent? What are your publishing options? How do you make it happen?

14.00-15.00:Inside Editing
Three editors discuss the editing process, what it is, how it works and how you can make your manuscript sing. Alison Walsh: previously of editor with HarperCollins, Orion and Gill & Macmillan, literary journalist at the Sunday Independent, author of a memoir, In My Mother's Shoes, and a novel, All That I Leave Behind. Her second novel will be published in autumn 2016. Sarah Liddy: Editor at Gill, previously of Mercier Press Patricia Deevy, Editorial Director Penguin Ireland.

Three authors discuss their very different routes to success - from a blog to a book, from self publishing to the NYTimes bestseller list, from an MFA to a film deal, they will show how they did it.
